ETHE ESTATE PROJECT
Titanic · operating concepts

Before choosing a ship, choose the operating model.

The same historic-looking vessel becomes a radically different project depending on whether it stays at one waterfront, makes limited voyages or operates as an international passenger ship.

This comparison is currently published in English and Russian. It is a concept comparison, not legal, engineering or classification advice.

A · Stationary heritage destination

A permanently moored full-size ship used as a museum, hotel, event venue or heritage attraction. This removes the requirement to function as a normal passenger liner at sea, but it still creates major waterfront, fire/life-safety, structural, accessibility, maintenance and local-permitting questions.

B · Limited operational ship

A ship capable of movement and selected voyages or special operations rather than continuous international liner service. The exact regulatory path would depend on flag, route, passenger model and intended service, so this scenario still requires professional maritime review.

C · International passenger ship

A genuine seagoing passenger ship intended for international voyages. IMO states that passenger ships on international voyages must comply with relevant international regulations, including SOLAS and Load Lines requirements.

Why compare them now?

Operating model affects almost every later decision: hull and machinery, evacuation, lifesaving systems, staffing, accessibility, port infrastructure, maintenance, classification, insurance and long-term cost.

Reference example: Queen Mary

Queen Mary demonstrates a heritage-liner model in which a historic ship no longer functions as a passenger ship but remains active as a hotel, attraction, tour and event destination in Long Beach.

International passenger-ship reference

IMO notes that passenger ships on international voyages are subject to a wide range of construction and operational standards, including fire safety, escape arrangements and lifesaving requirements.

Current project position

The Estate Project has not selected a final operating model. The purpose of this page is to keep that decision open until historical priorities, technical feasibility, economics and professional review can be compared properly.
